When you think of relaxation and ambiance, candles are usually the first things that come to mind. They bring a certain type of warmth to any room. With fall here, Bath & Body Works candles are a must-have in any room.
Then, something tragic happens. You light your favorite cookie-scented candle and the unthinkable happens – you get a headache. For some unearthly reason, your favorite scent is bringing you more anxiety than relaxation.
Although candles can brighten any mood, their man-made scents do not have the healing powers of aromatherapy. We often forget about why spas are so tranquil. The scents that permeate these institutions are rarely bold and always naturally occurring.
After being nauseated by my go-to candle, I knew it was time to buy a diffuser. It’s all the rage on Amazon and social media so I thought I’d give it a try.
What It Is
The only thing a diffuser does is turn water into mist – hence its name. So when you put droplets of essential oils in it, they mix with the water and travel with the mist into your room. All you need to do is plug it in. Every diffuser has different settings for mood lighting and duration.
Why Essential Oils?
Essential oils are known for their soothing properties. My favorites are lavender and eucalyptus. My obsession with lavender began when my mom gave me a face oil that was derived from lavender. Every time I used it, I noticed I became instantly calmer. On the other hand, whenever I need a pick-me-up, I go for some drops of eucalyptus.
You can get creative and create scents out of basic essential oils. Here’s a great list of pumpkin scents you can make for your diffuser.
Where to Get It
Obviously, it’s on Amazon. Even though they showed great prices and nice designs, I was too impatient to wait for mine to arrive – even with Prime shipping. So, strolling through Marshalls one day, I stumbled upon their diffuser shelf. The prices and offerings were very comparable to Amazon’s!
I was about to walk away with a sleek wooden diffuser when I noticed a small box tucked in the corner. With a whopping price of only $12.99, it was my cupcake diffuser! It was small, white and cute AF and I knew it was the one for me. Even though it’s for a higher price, here’s my lil cupcake on Amazon.
Now you need one too
I’m not joking, whenever I feel like transforming my room into a spa, I just light up my diffuser and BAM, instant serenity. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my candles but on days where I need to ease my mind, I choose my cupcake.
